西班牙摄影师 Marta Soul 拍摄的这组照片让人眼前一亮，主题词“Idilios”这个单词在西班牙语中意为“romances（中译‘浪漫史、爱情故事等’）”。照片的主角为同一名红发女子，她背对着摄影镜头，出现在公园、珠宝店、高尔夫球场、豪华酒店、草场、客厅、画廊等各种不同的浪漫场景中，与不同的男人“出演”同一个“爱”的主题——拥吻。更了追求浪漫，她不但更换场景、对象，当经验更加激烈，幸福也变得物化，那浪漫为何物？这组照片是否反映出消费时代的生活方式：以不断更新以寻求更好的改变？

This fantasy photo series shot by Spanish photographer Marta Soul, themed by Idilios, a Spanish lyrical word for ‘romances’ in English. The romantic recreations based on amorous experiences represented by the same woman kissing different men in various places.

The series is constructed in an ideal context in order to accentuate the romantic love experience. A jewellery shop, a golf course and a luxury hotel appear as appropriate sites in which to stage romance. Experiences are more intense and happiness is materialised.

The kiss is the main act and the only one, a symbol of the stereotyped romantic situation. Immediate satisfaction is found in the kiss. It begins and ends the entire narrative scene and is the iconographic element of the image. What the red-headed star of the series does is consume that moment as fully as possible.

Yes, it is all about consuming. The man appears as the woman’s parter: he is just one more element, not a co-star, and therefore he changes with the setting. The action is dehumanised to some extent by this reiteration of instants that give priority to light, luxury and form over emotions. Constant renewal seems to be the only path to reach our ideal, which is perhaps more in line with an advertising slogan than with any other belief.

The reflection in this work originates in trying to understand how we integrate our emotions into a consumer lifestyle in which everything has to be attractive yet has an expiry date because there is a constant search to change for something better.

SixLee Fall/Winter 2012 Menswear

Hong Kong born designer SixLee presents his Fall/Winter 2012 menswear collection. This collection titled “We’re all at the end“, is a duology that continues the story “We’re all in the dance“. The story features vintage portraits of males’s relationships that captured a world of feeling between them, and eventually hidden from eyes. The 2009 graduate of The Royal Academy of Arts Antwerp worked for Alexander McQueen before launching his own collection combining boyish details and fresh silhouettes with traditional British tailoring.

Inspired from the Sama, as one of the many Sufi Ceremonies performed to reach religous ecstasy; the aesthetic movements throughout the ritual, the well connected layering of orthodox Judaism, the costumes of Samaritan Tribes and the Nomads clothing have become a collectable nations of a noble modern gentlemen, who bring along all his treasured belongings and search with his brlief in love.

Photographed by Zeb Daemen, all the landscapes, sunset images are mirrored to create a natural, and yet surreal atmosphere. With uncertainty, insecurity and doubts about doomsday and not knowing how we will embrace it, I see explosion, smoke, freezing ice and different kinds of stones – marble, granite, pyrite, carnelian and quartz; the elements for the prints and accessories for this collection.

Curated by author Pamela Golbin alongside creative consultant Katie Grand, Louis Vuitton launches an exhibition exploring the past and present of its iconic fashion house in Paris on 9th March. Running until 16th September 2012 at the Musée des Arts Décoratifs, the exhibition delves into the two worlds of Louis Vuitton and current artistic director Marc Jacobs. Highlighting their very different contributions to the brand, the exhibition not only showcases how the fashion industry has evolved since 1854 but also the craftsmanship, technological advances, stylistic creation and artistic collaboration.
