序:这算得上是原文的无废话版．因为本文只翻译了一些前半部分如何定价，而后半部分如何提升自己的信誉度则没有录入，并且这文主要以软件外包的定价为主，不过我认为其它行业的朋友也值得看一看这定价过程．

现在你开始了自由职业生涯，你的目标是每年赚8万(当然了，某些人会觉得赚太少了，某些人就觉得赚不到这个数字，不过这只是举例用吧~)。你可以用这作为计算出每小时服务费用的基础。一年有52个星期，每星期5个工作天，每天工作8小时….

等一等，你真的准备一年工作52个星期？我对此抱怀疑态度，你需要一些时间来休年假，病假和公共假期—–当你还继续是别人的奴隶时，理应享受到这些假期的。澳大利亚的年假期是4个星期，病期通常是2个星期。让我们再添一个星期作为公共假期，现在只有45个星期了，要改写刚才的公式哦。

一场总不够吧，就以参加一场RailConf和RubyConf的澳大利亚物价来计算，大概费用是12.000元。那么一年就可得赚个10万才够了~。

haml better than ERB

这两天使用了haml替代Rails传统的ERB模板语言，感觉还不错，敲少了不少代码:)，而且haml需要用缩进来闭合代码块，这也使程序更加整洁。
下面是一些ERB的写法和使用haml之后的对比:

ERB的写法<% if @flash[:notice] %> <div class=”notice”><%= flash[:notice] %> </div> <% end %>
用haml写的版本- if flash[:notice].notice= flash[:notice]

ERB的写法

Does the answer drive you crazy? me too. the answer simply because we have a strong C background, we knew && has higher precedence than ||, but ruby evals true and false in the c oming order, beginning of the left.

为什么你不作单元测试

那些热衷于测试框架或者在使用自己的测试库的大不看这文章了。
余下不做测试的：你们听过测试的重要性，你也看到我们在激烈讨论着。但如果你有个用Rails写的WEB应用程序，又不为它写测试，你怎么知道这程序运作正常呢？（我猜：在你的浏览器里刷新来观看效果）。你怎么知道这程序在别人的机器上也运作正常呢？如果你所在的公司没有为程序写测试的习惯，你就不能作个领头羊么？用个周末来学习它，看看peepcodes，然后在你公司作个传教士吧。我非常好奇到底有多少用rails开发程序的公司是根本不作测试的。更糟糕的，有多少求职于Rails的人在他们的附带作品里是不作测试的。如果一个老板收到两份求职申请，一个人提求的是带有几个文件的测试代码的，另一个则是只有在测试单元有rails的scaffold默认生成的测试代码。如果你是老板，你想你会雇用哪个呢？

下面一些comment，我也有相同的疑问？诸如：
为什么我要为一些内置的验证方法写test呢？写上一个严密的单元测试是多么难啊。大多数人在网上激论的是Test::Unit vs Rspec vs. Test::Unit + Shoulda vs. Cucumber，但为新手写的指导书是那么少啊。。

how do session work?

whenever a new user accesss our Rails application, a new session is auto-matically created.
that data structure takes the forum of a hash, identified by a unique session id, a 32-character string of random hex numbers, when a new session is created, rails automatically sends a cookie to the browser containing the session id, for future reference. from the point on, each request from the browser sends the session id back to the server , and continuity can be maintained.

solve the libesd.so.0 problem in Archlinux

Though I use Ubuntu have been a period of time, I still love to use another distribution like Archlinux and Gentoo. So I started to use Archlinux about a half months ago, but today I found a fatal problem after I pacman -Syu and Startx.
warning this:
error while loading shared libraries: libesd.so.0: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

finally, I found someone has the same problem in ArchlinuxForum
the simply solution is:
Pacman -S esd

中午和一个亲戚聊时，她说，“都叫你们当初到广州找间大医院去医疗了。
晚上接了另外一个亲戚打来电话，这亲戚说很挂念我母亲，每天都为我母亲祈福。
现在经济很差，自己也没能赚钱，身体很差，如果不是身体抱恙肯定要回来探望等等，唯恐我在电话这头怪责她。
之前好一些亲戚和我母亲说，等你病好了，我请你到那大酒楼吃饭，带你去旅游等等。
看着母亲现在躺在床上,想喝水也只能用手指划着嘴巴来示意我拿给她，看着母亲想着发生的一切，尽是百感交集。十年前母亲历尽艰难地为家庭，为儿女读书，每天起早贪黑的去砖厂抬瓷砖，那时母亲也没怪责过谁不给点帮助的。
母亲在还能下床走动的时候也和我说过，“来不来探望都没所谓了，我谁也不怪责，我只希望我之前要是做过什么不好的事，别人也不要怪我就好了。”
去年5月母亲动手术的那天是旧历的初一，好些直系亲戚都忌讳怕手术会死人不去医院，手术过后几天，来的时候头上也捎上一种树叶以作僻邪。当初也考虑过一些大医院，当问及借钱，众友人就尽诉现在家里环境是如何之差。
作为儿子的我不能完全不去怪责任何人，我只能试着去理解这些人，试着去明白没有人有什么义务去帮助任何人。

感冒ArchLinux了~

用ubuntu也用过一段时间，一直在update，update，到最后终于是把我给update to crazy掉。一直想用用gentoo，但配置时间实在有点长，又有点不想转。直到最近我发现Archlinux，看过各方面的介绍，也问个使用了gentoo很长时间的Punkid讨意见，最后感觉还真不错，准备找个时间来折腾一下:)

附Punkid对ArchLinux的评价:

As you see, I wrote some articles concerning Archlinux. IMHO, I prefer Archlinux to Ubuntu, becuz Archlinux makes me feel like working under Gentoo.

Archlinux is flexible and customizable. You can either use pacman to install the binary package instantly, or would rather compile the source package via abs (you cant miss the yaourt tool!).

However, the shortcoming of pkgbuild is lack of USE flag control compared with Gentoo. You’d have to modify the pkgbuild file to meet your own needs.

In aggregate, I would highly recommend Archlinux for these reasons below:

You’re lazy but squeamish, need a clean system rather than finding a lot of things you dont need already installed in your system

Sometimes you’d like to build the package from source without getting your system dirty

Your comp is too old to compile everything, but you need a linux environment as soon as possible.
