希波克拉底的誓言

去了北京肿瘤医院，有一种很特别的感觉，跟去其他的医院都不一样。这种不一样或许来自人们心里对于生命的敬畏：当你走进医院，看见身边的人，不知道他是否已经得了癌症，不知道这是不是一名重患的家属。人们的表情几乎是清一色的冷漠，或者说根本没有表情。但在这背后，我相信，每个人都有自己的电影。因为那一个个闪烁不定的目光，已然说明了一切。
我对这里的医生还是很有好感的，至少，他们的敬业精神，对病人病情的认真处理的态度，在我眼里，是很不错的。事实上，也正是因为有这些认真负责的医师们，有这些精湛技艺的医师们，才让人们有着些许慰藉。每当我看到医生安静地翻着病历，思考病情的样子，我都由衷的感动，虽然我知道，这是他们的责任。然而，却有一种人总令人感觉与医院的整体气氛很不和谐，而且不是别人，就是这里的护士，再而且不是这里的老护士，而是一些年轻的女护士。这里所发生的一切，似乎跟她们没有丝毫关系。那种冷冷的对客态度，那种看破世间一切悲欢离合的无所谓的神情，很令人不爽。尤其是今天还经历了一次紧急状况，更令我有破口大骂的冲动。我妈妈从手术室下来，刚开始进行术后必要的输液，突然感觉浑身上下开始刺痒，全身变红，呼吸急促，肌肉有要抽搐的感觉，心脏难受。我心想不好，是输液过敏了，赶紧关掉点滴，我和父亲都有些惶恐，我急忙跑出去叫护士，我说有人输液过敏了，很紧急。可是，我对好几个护士叫了好几遍，居然没人理我，更令人气愤的是其中一位还白了我一眼。我手足无措跑回病房，母亲已经痛苦不已，我爸爸那边一直观察着我妈，并按了呼叫，但是眼看着等她来我妈还指不定变成什么样，我爸亲自跑了出去，大人的震慑力比我这个略显稚嫩的青年人果然强很多，终于来了名护士，一名男护士。他见状后，命人给我妈妈打了一针带有镇定作用的退过敏药，我母亲的状况才慢慢得到控制。回想起当时那一刻，现在仍是心有余悸。也让我体会到，当这种关系家人生命的危机情况发生时，原来人的脑子是空白的，只有一颗快跳出来的心。
为了我妈妈的平安，在此给那些年轻女护士们献上希波克拉底誓言，愿希波克拉底的意志能侵入你们哪怕一点点。
希波克拉底誓言
Hippocrates：The Oath of Medicine

You do solemnly swear, each by whatever he or she holds most sacred

That you will be loyal to the Profession of Medicine and just and generous to its members

That you will lead your lives and practice your art in uprightness and honor

That into whatsoever house you shall enter, it shall be for the good of the sick to the utmost of your power, your holding yourselves far aloof from wrong, from corruption, from the tempting of others to vice

That you will exercise your art solely for the cure of your patients, and will give no drug, perform no operation, for a criminal purpose, even if solicited, far less suggest it

That whatsoever you shall see or hear of the lives of men or women which is not fitting to be spoken, you will keep inviolably secret

These things do you swear. Let each bow the head in sign of acquiescence

And now, if you will be true to this, your oath, may prosperity and good repute be ever yours; the opposite, if you shall prove yourselves forsworn.
我愿以自身判断力所及，遵守这一誓约。凡教给我医术的人，我应像尊敬自己的父母一样，尊敬他。作为终身尊重的对象及朋友，授给我医术的恩师一旦发生危急情况，我一定接济他。把恩师的儿女当成我希波克拉底的兄弟姐妹；如果恩师的儿女愿意从医，我一定无条件地传授，更不收取任何费用。对于我所拥有的医术，无论是能以口头表达的还是可书写的，都要传授给我的儿女，传授给恩师的儿女和发誓遵守本誓言的学生；除此三种情况外，不再传给别人。
我愿在我的判断力所及的范围内，尽我的能力，遵守为病人谋利益的道德原则，并杜绝一切堕落及害人的行为。我不得将有害的药品给予他人，也不指导他人服用有害药品，更不答应他人使用有害药物的请求。尤其不施行给妇女堕胎的手术。我志愿以纯洁与神圣的精神终身行医。因我没有治疗结石病的专长，不宜承担此项手术，有需要治疗的，我就将他介绍给治疗结石的专家。
无论到了什么地方，也无论需诊治的病人是男是女、是自由民是奴婢，对他们我一视同仁，为他们谋幸福是我惟一的目的。我要检点自己的行为举止，不做各种害人的劣行，尤其不做诱奸女病人或病人眷属的缺德事。在治病过程中，凡我所见所闻，不论与行医业务有否直接关系，凡我认为要保密的事项坚决不予泄漏。
我遵守以上誓言，目的在于让医神阿波罗、埃斯克雷彼斯及天地诸神赐给我生命与医术上的无上光荣；一旦我违背了自己的誓言，请求天地诸神给我最严厉的惩罚！

城市晚报3月27日报道央视青歌赛开赛以来话题不断，继余秋雨点评遭“嘘”后，25日晚，青歌赛又出现“屏蔽门”。当天的节目中，余秋雨点评关于“火烧圆明园”的问题时，画面突然被切出，观众看到的是长达两分钟的青歌赛开头的宣传片。消息一出，网友炸开了锅，大家都在询问，余秋雨的点评究竟犯了什么错，被央视如此无情地屏蔽？

回放：
因“两个强盗”被屏蔽？
25日晚的央视青歌赛进行到尾声时，一位选手的问题是：火烧圆明园发生在哪一次战争中，这次战争主要的参加国是谁？当时，选手没能回答出正确答案，即第二次鸦片战争中，英法联军烧毁了圆明园。为此，余秋雨点评的时候，引用了雨果非常有名的一句话，“可是这一天两个强盗闯进了这个园子，一个说要抢，一个说要烧，这两个强盗一个叫法兰西，一个叫英吉利。”就在这个时候，余秋雨的画面突然被青歌赛的宣传片所代替，并且连续播放了三遍，这三遍播放结束切回演播现场的时候，恰巧余秋雨的点评结束。两个强盗就遭封？到底后面还说了什么谁知道？我想应该就是又把历史搬过来提了一下，再说点自己感受，这有什么呢？一位网友说“这很正常,正在奥运关头,过去的不愉快的事情还是避开点好,让客人看到了听到了都不愉快”，我看人家根本不在乎吧,人家在报纸上都把北京奥运和德国希特勒举办的奥运会类比，咱这还禁这些。也不排除炒作的可能，但即使炒作，还是觉得手段有些低劣。

机械设计---折叠自行车

这几天忙着赶工“机械综合设计”课的作业，上网狂找了一番资料，最后从下图的折叠自行车设计中获得了灵感。我觉得这种车造型很美观，折叠完了也很漂亮，决定从这位设计者的思路出发，改造一下，使他能够以一个动作完成所有的折叠过程，这样更加方便。

但是其中也真是有好多难解的问题，让我体会到机械设计比其他设计更难的地方，那就是：在保证漂亮，有创意的同时，还要深究其可行性，比如是否操作很方便，是否达到强度指标，现有的工艺是否能做出来。这要进行很复杂的运动学分析与动力学分析......

于是我想到，这些问题普通车间的工人师傅，或者小加工作坊里那些看似没啥文化的普通机械工人也许比我这个上过大学的机械系学生懂得更多。也正是他们使那些产品得以与世人见面。

可是，当目前人们生活中日益充斥着玲琅满目的精致，便利的产品的时候，或许，大多数人想到的只是拿着不薄的工资的过着现代甚至小资的生活的那些用造型设计师，有多少人能想到同样为这个产品提供巨大帮助的机械工作者？他们的月薪大多还低于2000元

车祸的最高境界，你还敢买日本车吗……

前几天上机械设计课，老师给我们扯了扯日本车，说日本车安全性差，主要是由于车身材料偷工减料，相比于德系的硬朗，美系的皮实，日本车就显得单薄很多了。他说，在中国所有出现车身解体的车祸，都是日本的车。我想既然是搞汽车这行的大学教授所说的，可信度是比较高的。这不，今天上网看见一起车祸，居然颠覆了我以往对“车祸”二字的理解。

不知为什么，每次看到那位大叔无辜的表情，我都止不住想笑......

“传播学”和“新闻学”究竟是干什么的？（转）给某人

如果你恰好是“新闻学”或“传播学”的授课老师、听课学生、研究者甚至爱好者（世上有这么无聊的爱好吗？），当别人问你：“传播学/新闻学是干什么的？”你将如何作答？

前两年在这个圈子里，围绕这个问题有场著名的论战发生。论战双方都是名人：李希光和潘忠党。

2007年底，刊登在《清华大学学报（哲学社会科学版）》2007年 05期上的赵心树（美国北卡罗来纳大学）的长文，又一次提出了这个问题，并尝试回答它。我觉得它是我读过的、用中文写作的论文里对此问题阐述得最清楚的一篇文章。强烈推荐。

文章名为：《新闻学与传播学的命名、使命及构成——与李希光、潘忠党商榷》(Names, Missions and Constitution of Journalism and Mass Communication—A Discussion with LI Xi-guang and PAN Zhong-dang)。鉴于在web上目前很不容易找到它，到这里下载它吧。

赵心树提到的“传播学”与“新闻学”在中文中的“二名三意”，确实存在。他做的“广义/狭义”、“基础/应用”划分，也有合理性。反复的论述和举例，虽然有重复累冗之嫌，但却确实陈述清晰。用一系列的数学公式来说明道理，新颖而富启发性。而他处理这种棘手的学术争端的态度、写作的方式，以及发表前将文章呈送涉及争论的双方寻求反馈的操作过程，都给这场论战提供了好看的结尾。希望今后多一些这样理性和宽容的学术辩论，而不是前一阵子在另一个学科中传出的那些斯文扫地的辱骂争吵。

只是，文章尽管面世，争论也已偃旗息鼓，但学术圈子内的分歧和冲突，基本立场之不同，怕是没那样容易走向“求同存异”之道路。

Youth

Youth is not a time of life; it is a state of mind; it is not a matter of rosy cheeks, red lips and supple knees; it is a matter of the will, a quality of the imagination, a vigor of the emotions; it is the freshness of the deep springs of life.

Youth means a temperamental predominance of courage over timidity, of the appetite for adventure over the love of ease. This often exists in a man of 60 more than a boy of 20. Nobody grows old merely by a number of years. We grow old by deserting our ideals.

Years may wrinkle the skin, but to give up enthusiasm wrinkles the soul. Worry, fear, self-distrust bows the heart and turns the spirit back to dust.

Whether 60 or 16, there is in every human being’s heart the lure of wonders, the unfailing appetite for what’s next and the joy of the game of living. In the center of your heart and my heart, there is a wireless station; so long as it receives messages of beauty, hope, courage and power from man and from the infinite, so long as you are young.

When your aerials are down, and your spirit is covered with snows of cynicism and the ice of pessimism, then you’ve grown old, even at 20; but as long as your aerials are up, to catch waves of optimism, there’s hope you may die young at 80.

Three Days to See

All of us have read thrilling stories in which the hero had only a limited and specified time to live. Sometimes it was as long as a year, sometimes as short as 24 hours. But always we were interested in discovering just how the doomed hero chose to spend his last days or his last hours. I speak, of course, of free men who have a choice, not condemned criminals whose sphere of activities is strictly delimited.

Such stories set us thinking, wondering what we should do under similar circumstances. What events, what experiences, what associations should we crowd into those last hours as mortal beings, what regrets?

Sometimes I have thought it would be an excellent rule to live each day as if we should die tomorrow. Such an attitude would emphasize sharply the values of life. We should live each day with gentleness, vigor and a keenness of appreciation which are often lost when time stretches before us in the constant panorama of more days and months and years to come. There are those, of course, who would adopt the Epicurean motto of “Eat, drink, and be merry”. But most people would be chastened by the certainty of impending death.

In stories the doomed hero is usually saved at the last minute by some stroke of fortune, but almost always his sense of values is changed. He becomes more appreciative of the meaning of life and its permanent spiritual values. It has often been noted that those who live, or have lived, in the shadow of death bring a mellow sweetness to everything they do.

Most of us, however, take life for granted. We know that one day we must die, but usually we picture that day as far in the future. When we are in buoyant health, death is all but unimaginable. We seldom think of it. The days stretch out in an endless vista. So we go about our petty tasks, hardly aware of our listless attitude toward life.

The same lethargy, I am afraid, characterizes the use of all our faculties and senses. Only the deaf appreciate hearing, only the blind realize the manifold blessings that lie in sight. Particularly does this observation apply to those who have lost sight and hearing in adult life. But those who have never suffered impairment of sight or hearing seldom make the fullest use of these blessed faculties. Their eyes and ears take in all sights and sounds hazily, without concentration and with little appreciation. It is the same old story of not being grateful for what we have until we lose it, of not being conscious of health until we are ill.

I have often thought it would be a blessing if each human being were stricken blind and deaf for a few days at some time during his early adult life. Darkness would make him more appreciative of sight; silence would teach him the joys of sound.

Companionship of Books

A man may usually be known by the books he reads as well as by the company he keeps; for there is a companionship of books as well as of men; and one should always live in the best company, whether it be of books or of men.

A good book may be among the best of friends. It is the same today that it always was, and it will never change. It is the most patient and cheerful of companions. It does not turn its back upon us in times of adversity or distress. It always receives us with the same kindness; amusing and instructing us in youth, and comforting and consoling us in age.

Men often discover their affinity to each other by the mutual love they have for a book just as two persons sometimes discover a friend by the admiration which both entertain for a third. There is an old proverb, ‘Love me, love my dog.” But there is more wisdom in this:” Love me, love my book.” The book is a truer and higher bond of union. Men can think, feel, and sympathize with each other through their favorite author. They live in him together, and he in them.

A good book is often the best urn of a life enshrining the best that life could think out; for the world of a man’s life is, for the most part, but the world of his thoughts. Thus the best books are treasuries of good words, the golden thoughts, which, remembered and cherished, become our constant companions and comforters.

Books possess an essence of immortality. They are by far the most lasting products of human effort. Temples and statues decay, but books survive. Time is of no account with great thoughts, which are as fresh today as when they first passed through their author’s minds, ages ago. What was then said and thought still speaks to us as vividly as ever from the printed page. The only effect of time have been to sift out the bad products; for nothing in literature can long survive e but what is really good.

Books introduce us into the best society; they bring us into the presence of the greatest minds that have ever lived. We hear what they said and did; we see the as if they were really alive; we sympathize with them, enjoy with them, grieve with them; their experience becomes ours, and we feel as if we were in a measure actors with them in the scenes which they describe.

The great and good do not die, even in this world. Embalmed in books, their spirits walk abroad. The book is a living voice. It is an intellect to which on still listens.

·第四篇：If I Rest,I Rust 如果我休息，我就会生锈

If I Rest, I Rust

The significant inscription found on an old key---“If I rest, I rust”---would be an excellent motto for those who are afflicted with the slightest bit of idleness. Even the most industrious person might adopt it with advantage to serve as a reminder that, if one allows his faculties to rest, like the iron in the unused key, they will soon show signs of rust and, ultimately, cannot do the work required of them.

Those who would attain the heights reached and kept by great men must keep their faculties polished by constant use, so that they may unlock the doors of knowledge, the gate that guard the entrances to the professions, to science, art, literature, agriculture---every department of human endeavor.

Industry keeps bright the key that opens the treasury of achievement. If Hugh Miller, after toiling all day in a quarry, had devoted his evenings to rest and recreation, he would never have become a famous geologist. The celebrated mathematician, Edmund Stone, would never have published a mathematical dictionary, never have found the key to science of mathematics, if he had given his spare moments to idleness, had the little Scotch lad, Ferguson, allowed the busy brain to go to sleep while he tended sheep on the hillside instead of calculating the position of the stars by a string of beads, he would never have become a famous astronomer.

Labor vanquishes all---not inconstant, spasmodic, or ill-directed labor; but faithful, unremitting, daily effort toward a well-directed purpose. Just as truly as eternal vigilance is the price of liberty, so is eternal industry the price of noble and enduring success.
